ATLANTA – ( GaBiz) One of the things that stands out about Sandeep Ahuja and Patrick Chopson is the casual ease with which they drop big words and sketch a grand vision—disrupting architecture, driving a new Industrial Revolution, even making the world a better place.
Ahuja and Chopson are the cofounders of Cove, an “AI-powered, human-centered architecture firm of the future that delivers higher-quality buildings significantly faster.” That’s the description the pair delivers jointly, one finishing the other’s sentence, as both sit down in the company’s airy, loft-style office in downtown Atlanta’s Truist Plaza building.
The confidence is in part rooted in the firm’s unconventional history and approach to doing business. Cove, which stands for “cost versus energy,” was founded in 2017 as a software start-up by the two Georgia Tech graduates, who both trained as software developers and architects.
Chopson coded a cloud-based building optimization platform called cove.tool, and the company went on to sell subscriptions to architecture firms worldwide, eventually raising more than $36 million in venture capital funding.
In 2024, Cove transitioned to using its own AI-powered tool to design buildings. Today, the company is a full-service architecture firm with 50 employees. Ahuja, who serves as CEO, has earned multiple accolades including Inc. magazine’s Top 100 Women CEOs and Forbes‘s 30 Under 30. Chopson, Cove’s president and chief product officer, is a licensed architect with more than 20 years of experience.
